Blinn College makes money from land sale to Bryan ISD – WTAW

Blinn College Trustees and Bryan ISD School Board Members agree to the sale of 95 acres of college-owned land where BISD’s new Transportation and Maintenance Complex will be built.

The sale price of $ 4.65 million is a profit for Blinn, who bought the land six years ago for $ 3.8 million.

A spokesperson for the university said the price was determined after negotiation with BISD in accordance with Blinn’s policy.

Blinn Trustees bought the land at Leonard Road and Harvey Mitchell Parkway to build a campus west of Bryan. After starting to clear the land, the project was halted when the administrators decided to accept the offer from the Texas A&M system to build on the RELLIS campus.

There was no comment on the purchase from members of the BISD board at Monday’s meeting or at Blinn’s board meeting on Tuesday.

Both governing bodies unanimously approved the transaction.

The only comments came from outgoing BISD Superintendent Christie Whitbeck.
