200 homes planned for Derbyshire following land sale | Midlands property news

A 200-home development is set to go ahead following the completion of a multi-million pound land sale in Derbyshire.

Property consultancy Fisher German and co-agent Wiverton have completed the sale of a site off Birchwood Lane in Somercotes to homebuilder Avant Homes.

The companies were tasked with marketing the site on behalf of the landowner after Chave Planning secured the green light on their behalf to build 200 properties, 30% of which had affordable status.

Matthew Handford, Senior Development Expert at Fisher German, said: “After a very competitive sales process, we are delighted to bring a new market and affordable housing to Derbyshire through an agreement with Avant Homes which will meet demand. of properties in the county.

“The site was in high demand, with the level of offers received exceeding expectations. This reflects the positive market conditions for building land at the moment, supported by high sale rates, restricted land purchase opportunities and rising house prices.

“Avant has been a pleasure to work with, and the development will bring great benefits to future owners looking for new housing opportunities in the area. I look forward to seeing it come to fruition.”

Work on the site is expected to begin in August 2022.

Lorna Rider, Land Manager at Avant Homes Central, added: “We are very pleased to have acquired this site in a highly desirable area of Derbyshire, enabling us to deliver 200 new high quality homes.

“Our development will include a mix of properties to suit a wide range of buyers and represents a significant investment for Avant Homes in the Somercotes area.”
